Sunderland fans react to team news as Dan Neil starts against Port Vale in Papa John's Trophy

Sunderland fans are pleased to see Dan Neil including in the starting eleven to face Port Vale in the Third Round of the Papa John's Trophy tonight.

Head coach Lee Johnson made seven changes to the side that drew with Hull City at the weekend.

Jordan Willis also made his return from injury after a lengthy lay off, with starts for Elliot Embleton, Chris Maguire and Aiden O'Brien.

Black Cats fans have taken to social media to praise the strong line up put out by Johnson.

Ronan Cawley said: "I would have given Dobson a chance to be fair, but that’s a canny line up. It's good to see Dan Neil getting a chance."

Kyle Donoghue said: "Good team with a solid bench if we need it. It's good to see Neil getting the chance, let’s see if he can prove himself! Ha'way the lads."

Lee Watson said: "Can see us conceding from a set piece but solid team."

Danny Graham was a notable omission from the starting XI having not featured much in the league campaign so far. It's let fans to question his future at the club.
