Sunderland fans have been giving their reaction to the news that Steve Bruce has become the favourite for the Newcastle United job.
The former Black Cats boss has emerged as a 3/1 favourite with bookmaker SkyBet, ahead of Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta and Belgium manager Roberto Martinez who are joint second-favourites at 9/2.
Bruce, a Northumberland native, is currently in charge of Sheffield Wednesday but counts Sunderland as one of his many former clubs with Bruce carving out an extensive managerial career.
The ex-Aston Villa boss took over at the Stadium of Light in 2009 and lasted just two years at Sunderland before being handed the sack in November 2011 after a home defeat to Wigan Athletic.
Since his departure from the North East, the boyhood Newcastle fan has held posts at Hull, Villa and current side Wednesday.
