Sunderland face competition for highly rated Aberdeen youngster Ethan Ross

Sunderland face competition from Blackburn Rovers as they join the hunt to sign Aberdeen youngster Ethan Ross, according to reports.

Football Insider claims the 19-year-old is on the Black Cats ' shopping list after turning down a new contract at Pittodrie.

The left sided midfielder signed a two-year deal back in 2019 and the Dons are keen on keeping him at the club.

New manager Stephen Glass is aware of the interest from English clubs and was keen to tie him down at the Scottish Premiership club.

He made just two league appearances for Aberdeen last season, both coming from the bench, while also featuring three times in the Scottish Cup, starting just once.

He's made a total of 12 appearances for the Dons but both Sunderland and Blackburn are keen on making a move for the youngster.

Ross spent a period out on loan at Championship side Raith Rovers where he made 15 appearances, scoring twice with three assists to his name.
