Sunderland eye cut price move for Scotland international Stephen O'Donnell

Sunderland are eying a cut-price move for Motherwell and Scotland international Stephen O'Donnell.

Football League World claims the Black Cats are trying to secure a move for the right back for a fee around the £500,000 mark.

O'Donnell currently has two years left on his contract at Fir Park having joined The Steelmen from Kilmarnock in 2020.

The 29-year-old full back was part of the Scotland side that drew 0-0 with England at Wembley in the Euro 2020 group game.

His performance against the Three Lions has seen him attract a number of suitors ahead of the new season.

Lee Johnson's side are in desperate need of full backs after the departure of Conor McLaughlin and Callum McFadzean, while the Black Cats head coach has also set a deadline for negotiations with Denver Hume - who is yet to sign a new deal on Wearside.

O'Donnell has made 20 appearances for the Tartan Army since making his international debut in 2018 and also has experience of English football.

The right-back spent two years at Luton Town as they continued their rise through the divisions, making 60 appearances for the Hatters.
