Sunderland confirm new kick-off time for this weekend's trip to Blackpool

Sunderland's game at Blackpool this weekend will now kick-off at 12.30pm on Saturday, the club has confirmed.

The Black Cats were originally due to take on the Seasiders at Bloomfield Road at 3pm on Saturday.

But the EFL has rearranged all fixtures scheduled for 3pm on Saturday as a mark of respect in order to avoid a clash with the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died on Friday at the age of 99.

Premier League games due to be played in the Saturday 3pm timeslot will also be moved, and other sports including Premiership Rugby have also announced that they will move their fixtures.

Sunderland's trip to Lancashire is the first of two meetings with Neil Critchley's play-off hopefuls this month.

Blackpool will make the return journey to the Stadium of Light on Tuesday, April 27, in a game that was originally scheduled to be played on December 22 but was postponed following a Covid outbreak within the Sunderland squad.
