Sunderland confirm new date for their League One trip to Sheffield Wednesday

Sunderland have announced that their game at Sheffield Wednesday has been rescheduled for early November.

The Black Cats' League One trip to Hillsborough will now be played on Tuesday, November 2, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

Ticket information for the game will be announced nearer the time.

The fixture was originally due to be played on Saturday, September 4, but was postponed due to international call-ups.

Tom Flanagan, Bailey Wright, Niall Huggins, Dennis Cirkin, and Callum Doyle, were all called up by their countries which left Sunderland without most of their senior defenders, leading the Black Cats to ask for a postponement

And they could face a similar situation a week on Saturday when Sunderland are due to play Oxford United at the Stadium of Light in another game that falls in an international break.

As things stand, that game is still due to go ahead but that may change when the latest round of international squads are announced.
