Sunderland clinch Jordan Jones loan move as winger joins from Rangers

Sunderland have completed their second loan signing in the space of just a few hours after it was confirmed Rangers winger Jordan Jones would join the Black Cats on a temporary deal.

Jones, 26, will join subject to international clearance, with the Northern Ireland forward looking to make a big impression back in his native North East.

The former Kilmarnock man has fallen out of favour at Ibrox, but is keen to show what he can do in League One.

“I’m absolutely over the moon and I’m delighted to be here," he told the club's official website.

"I know what football means to people in the North East and how much Sunderland means to the supporters, so hopefully I can bring them some entertainment and good results.”

It takes head coach Lee Johnson's January additions to three, with Jones following permanent signing Carl Winchester, and Southampton left-back Jake Vokins, who arrived on loan earlier on Friday.

“As Jordan comes in, we are looking forward to working with him and seeing what he brings to our squad," said Johnson of the deal.

"He is a player with the type of qualities that fit the positional profile we wanted to add to the group.”
