Sunderland chase Premier League defender, Plymouth want Wolves starlet - League One and Two transfer rumours

The summer transfer window is hotting up as clubs from League One and Two look to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.

Deals are beginning to get done at a rapid rate and it’s no surprise that the transfer rumours continue to fly with three weeks of the window still remaining.

We’ve rounded up the best of the latest rumours and news from League One and Two below.

Sunderland enquire for Premier League defender

Sunderland have enquired about signing Sheffield United defender Ben Heneghan, according to reports.

The Black Cats are keen on the 25-year-old, who is surplus to requirements at Bramall Lane.

Sunderland may have to battle off interest from Reading to get their man, however, with the Royals also expressing their interest.

Heneghan spent last season loan at Blackpool and is yet to feature in the league for Sheffield United.

Blackpool sign Rangers frontman

Blackpool have completed signing number six of the summer.

The Tangerines have snapped up Ryan Hardie from Rangers on a two-year deal.

Hardie joins for an undisclosed fee having spent last season on loan at Livingston.

Plymouth confirm interest in Wolves youngster

Plymouth Argyle are interested in a loan deal for Wolves youngster Niall Ennis.

Argyle boss Ryan Lowe has confirmed Argyle’s interest, telling the Plymouth Herald: “He’s one of many on the list. Niall Ennis is a fantastic footballer. He has represented England, he’s a quality striker.

“But there are probably other clubs that are in for Niall Ennis, like we are in for other players.”

Ennis is a former England under-19 international but is yet to make a league appearance for Wolves.

Soares on trial at Stevenage

Stevenage have taken former Crystal Palace and Stoke City midfielder Tom Soares on trial.

Boro are set to take an ambitious approach this season and Soares looks as though he could be the latest arrival should he do enough to earn  a contract.

Soares, who made over 150 appearances for Palace in all competitions, left AFC Wimbledon this summer.
