Sunderland announce new dates for league games impacted by their EFL Trophy final appearance

Sunderland have confirmed new dates for the two League One fixtures impacted by their trip to Wembley for next month's EFL Trophy final.

The Black Cats will face Tranmere Rovers in the Tropy final under the arch on Sunday, March 14.

That means their league game against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, which was due to be played on Saturday, March 13, had to be moved.

And that game has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 13, with kick-off at 7pm.

Sunderland's Wembley appearance has also had an effect on their trip to Accrington Stanley, which was due to be played on Tuesday, March 16 - just two days after the Trophy final.

That game at the Crown Ground has now been pushed back 24 hours to give Lee Johnson's men additional recovery time, meaning it will take place on Wednesday, March 17, with kick-off at 6pm.
