Sunderland announce loan signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Edouard Michut

Sunderland have announced the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Edouard Michut.

The 19-year-old joins the Black Cats on an initial loan deal until the end of the season but the deal could become permanent by the end of the season if the club chooses to exercise that option.

Michut has represented France at the Under-16, 17 and 19 youth international levels and frequently represented PSG in the UEFA Youth League during the 2021-22 season.

Last season, Michut made his senior debut for the French champions last season in a 4-0 win over Dijon FCO in February and would go on to make another seven appearances for the first team alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

In a statement released by the club, Michut said: “I had a fantastic experience at Paris Saint-Germain, but now I’m ready for a new challenge and I’m very happy to be here. I travelled to the Stadium of Light on Saturday to watch the game against Norwich City and the atmosphere inside the stadium was unbelievable.

"This is an opportunity for me to level up as a player and I always wanted to play in England, but I also like the project and that is why I’m here. My preparation for the season has been good and I’m ready to help the team.”
