Sunderland have revised opening times for their club store and ticket office amid the coronavirus outbreak, while stadium tours have also been suspended for the foreseeable.
The move on non-football operations at the club comes in-line with Government and EFL advice to try and stop the spread of COVID-19 which has caused the football season to be suspended until April 30.
A statement from Sunderland read: “Following the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Sunderland AFC continues to monitor and implement the latest advice of the government and the EFL.
“SAFC’s primary concern remains the safety and wellbeing of its supporters, staff and players, with further measures set to be introduced to help prevent the spread of the virus and protect all associated with the club.”
The new measures mean that Sunderland’s ticket office and club store will be opened with reduced hours. Monday-Friday both will now open 10am-2pm, while both will be closed on a weekend going forward.
However, as the Government advise on social distancing, the club are encouraging fans to use their online stores for both tickets and store purchases.
The club have also suspended their stadium tours for the foreseeable, and the club will contact those with pre-existing bookings in due course. They have announced changes to operations at the Academy of Light too, without going in detail.
On academy changes, they wrote: “In line with government advice, proactive changes to day-to-day operations at the Academy of Light have also been implemented.”
