Sunderland Airshow 2019 car parking and park and ride information

Thousands are expected to head to Sunderland this weekend for the city's annual airshow.

The show is one of the biggest events in the North East, with top pilots flown in from around the world to entertain the crowds.

Entertainment this year includes performances by .

Much of Sunderland City Centre closes to traffic for the three-day show, while parking restrictions are in place to stop visitors leaving their vehicles on neighbouring streets.

Extra bus and Metro services will be put on to assist visitors.

If you have to drive to the show, you have two choices. You can either pay £10 a day to park in the Airshow's car park, near the seafront, or you could use one of three park and ride car parks around Sunderland.

There is also limited Blue Badge parking available at Morrisons, Seaburn Showfield  and Marine Walk.

Sunderland Airshow Park and Ride information

Park and Ride will operate from 3 different sites throughout the weekend. Use the postcodes provided to get you there, park up and get on a bus that drops you right at the event site.  The Take Off Enclosure is approximately a 2 minute walk from Park and Ride 1 and 2, and a 10 minute walk from Park and Ride 3.

The cost is £2.50 per person, return. Under 5s travel free. Card and contactless payments are taken on the buses.

All the buses on the Airshow Park & Ride have space for 1 wheelchair or up to 2 pushchairs, but at busy times, customers may be asked to fold their pushchair or wait for the next bus.

When you arrive at the Airshow site, your Park & Ride bus will pick you up at the same stop for your return journe.y

Car parking near the Airshow site

This year Seaburn Showfield (next to Morrisons on the seafront, SR6 8EW and then follow the temporary road signage) is open for parking on Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28. Click here to buy tickets . Cost is £10 per car, and the car park is within walking distance of the event site.

The streets surrounding the airshow site will be closed to traffic.

Disabled Parking

Free disabled parking is available at the rear of Morrisons (SR6 8AA) and Seaburn Showfield (SR6 8EW) and follow temporary road signage). Pre-booking is not required. A blue badge must be displayed in the vehicle.
