Sunderland AFC Ladies legend and ex-Lioness Jill Scott rumoured for I'm A Celeb

Former Lioness and Sunderland AFC Ladies legend Jill Scott is rumoured to be swapping the pitch for the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

The women's footballing icon - who was recently in the spotlight for being nominated for a Freedom of the City award in Sunderland - is set to be one of the new contestants this year, reports The Sun.

An inside source claims that the 35-year-old, who only recently announced her retirement from women's football in August, was a natural choice for the ITV reality staple.

The Daily Star reports that the source said midfielder Jill became 'an instant star' when she appeared to swear at Germany's Sydney Lohmann in the Euro 2022 final - adding: "It was always rumoured that ITV wanted one of the team in the jungle and Jill is a natural choice."

I'm A Celebrity is set to get under way later this year, with a new group of stars living on basic rations and tackling the gruelling Bushtucker trials. The show has been in Gwrych Castle in Wales for the last two years because of the coronavirus pandemic, but is now returning to Australia, which hosts Ant and Dec have said is its 'spiritual home'.

If Jill is a camper, she could be bunking down alongside the likes of comedian and former Strictly star Seann Walsh, who is rumoured to have signed up. Other names being bandied around include Culture Club's Boy George and former rugby ace Mike Tindall.

And there has been talk for a while that EastEnders legend Danny Dyer is gearing up for a stint Down Under.

Former Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain is also thought to be a possibility, after she revealed she had turned it down when it was in Wales and had been left wondering what the experience might have been like.

The Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment.
