Sunderland AFC flop Alfred N'Diaye declared bankrupt

Former Sunderland footballer Alfred N'Diaye is bankrupt.

The Senegal international signed for the Black Cats for £4m from Buraspor but was loaned out six months later.

Now it has emerged he was declared bankrupt at an October High Court hearing.

The midfielder was sold for an initial £2m to Real Betis after making just 16 appearances for Sunderland.

He was signed by Martin O'Neill in 2013, but claims he was frozen out by successor Paolo Di Canio.

Speaking previously about his stint on Wearside, N'Diaye admitted: "It went very well until the arrival of a new coach, Paolo Di Canio.

“We did not argue, but it was not right.

“Knowing me and seeing his character, it was better that I leave."

The 28-year-old now plays for Villarreal although he's currently on loan at Malaga.

He's previously been loaned out to Hull and Wolves, helping the latter win promotion to the Premier League.
