Sunderland 2019-20 fixtures: What Premier League fixtures tell us about Black Cats schedule

Sunderland are set to open their 2019-20 campaign with a home game at the Stadium of Light.

While the League One fixtures will not be released for another week, the Premier League fixtures have been released today.

And the Black Cats' rivals Newcastle United will kick off their campaign at home to Arsenal on August 11.

The EFL season gets under way a week earlier, with Jack Ross' side back in competitive action on the weekend of August 3.

Traditionally, neither side plays at home on the same weekend, so if Sunderland are to be away in the second weekend of the season, it is likely they will begin the campaign with a home fixture.

What we can say for certain is that the Black Cats will be at home on Boxing Day and away on New Year's Day.

Newcastle travel to Manchester United the day after Christmas, meaning Sunderland will be at home, while the Magpies travel to Leicester on the first day of 2020, so Jack Ross and Co should see the new year in at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland's full fixture list will be released on Thursday, June 20 at 9am, and we will bring you all the news, key dates and analysis on the day.
