Sunderland signed off their pre-season schedule with defeat to Dutch top tier side Heerenveen.
In a pretty drab affair, the only thing to separate the two sides was a wonder-striker from Hitcham Faik, who left Jon McLaughlin with no chance with his long range effort.
Just seven days before the Black Cats kick-off their season proper, this was a good test for them against a good opposition, but their lack of attacking impetus is cause for concern. That's three consecutive friendlies now where they've failed to find the back of the net.
Here's how James Hunter rated the Sunderland players.
JON McLAUGHLIN 6
A couple of routine saves and could do nothing about the goal
CONOR McLAUGHLIN 6
Did well on the right side of the back three and hit the woodwork in the first half
JORDAN WILLIS 6
Another promising display - his pace allows him to sweep up anything played in behind
TOM FLANAGAN 6
Made a couple of important interceptions
LYNDEN GOOCH 5
Played right wingback but didn't get forward often enough
GRANT LEADBITTER 6
Anchored the midfield and brought a good save out of Hahn
DYLAN McGEOUCH 6
Neat and tidy but that's about it
DENVER HUME 6
Got forward from left wingback whenever he could
ELLIOT EMBLETON 6
A couple of positive runs but didn't really seize his chance
BENJI KIMPIOKA 5
Offered an outlet but some of his decision-making was poor
WILL GRIGG 5
One neat turn and shot, otherwise had little service and barely had a kick
SUBS
MARC McNULTY 6
For Kimpioka 55mins. One chance on his debut but saw his shot blocked
LUKE O'NIEN 6
For Gooch 67mins. Comfortable in the right wingback role
GEORGE DOBSON 6
For Leadbitter 76mins. A short but promising debut
MAX POWER 6
For McGeouch 83mins. Just a brief run-out as he continues his return from injury
ALIM OZTURK 6
For Willis 87mins. A cameo late in the game
