The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 has today revealed where it ranks Wales' eight universities rank among the country's best places to study.
The guide - dubbed "the definitive rankings for UK universities" - has placed Cardiff at the number one spot within Wales for the second successive year. And Cardiff was again named Welsh University of the Year, a title it was first awarded in 2018.
Having invested £50 million in student support services, with a Centre for Student Life earmarked to open this term, the university was also placed 35th on the UK-wide higher education chart.

This year also saw applications to the institution up by 12 percent. Meanwhile, the guide's second place within Wales went to Aberystwyth University (ranked 38th UK wide), followed by Swansea in third position (39th), Bangor in fourth place (64th) and Cardiff Metropolitan at number five (joint 79th).

Alastair McCall, editor of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide - which profiles 135 universities using the latest published data - called Cardiff "one of the 'go-to' destinations for students right now, with applications booming."
He added: "Enhancements to the university experience through investments in projects like the new £50 million Centre for Student Life will only make it an even more attractive option going forward."
The guide also found that, after a year of closed campuses and a move to online learning, most universities have seen a dramatic drop in student satisfaction and teaching quality scores in the latest National Student Survey.
Only two universities, Imperial College London and the University of Surrey, saw an improvement in student satisfaction scores between 2020 and 2021.
