Sunday's recap: Twins 7, White Sox 0

Sept. 14--Chris Sale was knocked around as the White Sox fell for the fourth time in their last six games, this time a 7-0 drubbing by the Twins on Sunday at U.S. Cellular Field.

At the plate

Twins starter Kyle Gibson and two relievers silenced the Sox's bats, limiting them to a Micah Johnson double and singles by Tyler Saladino, Mike Olt, Tyler Flowers and Adam Eaton.

On the mound

Sale was pounded for six runs and nine hits in three innings to take the loss. The big blow was a long, two-out home run by Torii Hunter in the first to give the Twins a 4-0 lead. Four Sox relievers held the Twins to one run over the final six innings.

In the field

With the bases empty and two outs in the third, Eaton slipped in center and allowed a liner off the bat of the Twins' Miguel Sano to drop in front of him. The Twins then reeled off four consecutive hits to take a 6-0 lead and end Sale's day.

The quote

"(Gibson) had super sink going. He seemed to have pretty good command of his changeup-split thing. He was doing a good job working that off his sinker (and) he threw enough breaking balls in there for strikes and some guys chased them late. He was definitely on." -- Flowers, who was 1-for-3 against the Twins starter.
