Sunday's recap: Rockies 2, Cubs 0

April 18--The Cubs' "O" was a no-go Sunday during a 2-0 loss to the Rockies at Wrigley Field. The team managed just three hits and five baserunners while falling to 9-3. Nolan Arenado's solo home runs in the fourth and ninth innings accounted for the game's only runs.

At the plate

Javier Baez had the Cubs' first hit, in the fifth inning. Lester doubled to lead off the sixth and Heyward doubled in the ninth for the team's only hits.

Behind the plate

David Ross subscribed to the "Thou shalt not steal" commandment. The 39-year-old threw out two runners trying to do just that in the first two innings.

On the mound

Jon Lester struck out 10, walked two and gave up one run and four hits before exiting with one out in the seventh inning, the Cubs' 11th quality start in 12 games.

In the field

Anthony Rizzo was charged with one error when he couldn't glove David Ross' throw on a dropped-third strike in the second and saved another on Lester's one-bounce throw to for the first out in the top of the eighth.

Key number

2.33: Earned-run average of Cubs' starting pitchers this season.
