Sunday's recap: Clippers 120, Bulls 93

Jan. 31--The Bulls fell to 1-1 on their seven-game trip, getting buried in an avalanche of 3-pointers in a 120-93 matinee loss to the Clippers at the Staples Center. Jamal Crawford's 26 points led the Clippers, who also got 21 points from J.J. Redick. They combined to sink six of the Clippers' 17 3-pointers. That tied the Bulls' franchise record for most by an opponent. Jimmy Butler led the Bulls with 23 points but shot just 8-for-22. Derrick Rose added 20 in an impressive attacking game in which he made 10 of 17 shots.

Turning point: The Clippers built an 11-point, third-quarter run with a 14-6 run in which coach Fred Hoiberg used the "Hack-a-Jordan" strategy and intentionally fouled DeAndre Jordan. The big man sank three of four free throws in a stretch that changed momentum.

Tribune player of game: Crawford. The former Sixth Man of the Year scored 26 points in 26 minutes, including the first eight points of the fourth quarter when the Clippers put the game on ice.

Key number: 36. The Clippers enjoyed a 36-point advantage in 3-point scoring.

The quote: "With Blake (Griffin) out of the lineup (injured) they've done an unbelievable job of going small and been very difficult to guard because of how they space the floor," Fred Hoiberg on the Clippers.
