Nicola Sturgeon's book publisher probed by fraud cops over award of £295k taxpayers' cash

Police are investigating fraud allegations over £295,000 of taxpayers’ money given to the publisher of a book of Nicola Sturgeon’s speeches.

Officers from the financial crimes unit are probing claims rules were broken when Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) awarded grants and loans to Sandstone Press of Inverness.

He’s spoken out after an investigation was launched into how Jack McKenzie, 20, was found dead in his cell at the prison in September.

A woman who was spotted wearing only her underwear at the side of a Scots road has sparked a probe by cops.

Police received reports of a woman standing at the side of A76 near to Holywood, Dumfries, at around 9pm on Saturday, November 6.

The woman was said to be wearing nothing but her underwear at the time.

Hundreds of emotional tributes have been paid to a Dundee makeup artist who died after having a heart attack.

Ann Marie Taylor suffered a cardiac arrest late on Monday night and was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in the city for treatment.

Despite the best efforts of ICU medics, the 47-year-old’s life support machine was switched off on Friday, November 5, with her loving family by her side.
