Good evening and welcome to Sunday's Daily Record headline briefing. The rundown keeps you up to date with the latest news from Scotland and beyond.

Here's everything you need to know to keep up to date.

Scottish Government in eco row as £4 million poured into water tycoon’s bottle station

The Scottish Government is facing criticism after handing £4 million to a billionaire’s bottled water firm. Emirati tycoon Mahdi Al-Tajir’s Highland Spring received the cash for a train depot at his factory in Perthshire after claiming it will reduce the carbon footprint of the business.

But bottled water has been criticised as a massive and unnecessary contributor to global warming and plastic pollution. Labour MSP Neil Bibby said: “It is important we shift freight from road to rail as part of efforts to decarbonise the transportation of goods.

“The sums of public money involved in this are substantial and the burden for such investment should not always fall entirely on the taxpayer, particularly when they benefit large companies making substantial profits. There are questions for the Scottish Government to answer on the level of private investment that was sought and secured for this project.”

The health of serial killer Peter Tobin has deteriorated in the last few days.

He’s now entering his fifth week in hospital after emergency treatment for a broken hip last month. The 76-year-old, who also has cancer, had suffered the injury in a fall in prison and has remained in a Scottish NHS facility ever since.

The Sunday Mail has learned Tobin’s condition has worsened and he has not been returned to HMP Edinburgh, where he was serving a whole life sentence for the murders of Angelika Kluk, Vicky Hamilton and Dinah McNicol.

A source said yesterday: “He’s not getting any better, in fact, his condition is getting worse.”

Shamed MP Margaret Ferrier has spent thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money on eye- wateringly expensive flights to London in just six months. She took 15 trips costing from £450 to £533 a time between June 2021 and January 2022, totalling £7074.22, the Sunday Mail can reveal.

Ferrier, who is on an £81,932 salary, lost the SNP whip and received a criminal conviction after travelling to parliament by train while infected with Covid at the height of the pandemic. Since then, she has been flying on executive BA services from Glasgow directly into London City airport – all paid for by taxpayers.

A new official photograph of King Charles and his family features three Princes of Wales in a peculiar quirk. The King and Prince William are posed with their wives for a photograph released by Buckingham Palace this weekend

Father and son, plus Queen Consort Camilla and Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, were pictured dressed all in black and sharing warm smiles before a Buckingham Palace reception to meet heads of state on the eve of the Queen’s funeral.

Sharp-eyed observers noticed that the family photograph resulted in a trio of Prince of Wales, the Mirror reports. There is Charles - who took the title in 1958, and William, who assumed the role after Her Majesty’s death.

'Living Nostradamus' claims World War Three will start soon after predicting Covid and Queen's death

Athos Salome has made some eerie predictions (instagram.com/athos_salome)

A Brazilian prophet dubbed the “modern-day Nostradamus" has warned of an imminent nuclear war after a series of accurate predictions. Athos Salome claims that he foresaw Covid-19, the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and even the numbers for Elon Musk's attempt to buy Twitter.

The Daily Star reports the seer even claims he foresaw robots making humans out of work even before the billionaire revealed his "Optimus" robots. But among the more ominous of the 36-year-old's claims is the chilling declaration that World War Three has already started.

He claimed that this has been confirmed by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in an age of digital "fantasy". Dismissing allegations of being nothing but a quack, Athos said: "I don't consider myself a soothsayer, I don't believe it."
