Sunday Brunch’s Simon Rimmer slashes thumb open live on air

Sunday Brunch star Simon Rimmer accidentally slashed his thumb live on air while preparing a dish on the Channel Four show.
The presenter, 57, was grating carrots for a carrot curry salad when the mishap happened.

Simon was injured in front of YouTuber and fellow former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Joe Sugg.

Joe fainted on Celebrity Bake Off last year after accidentally slicing the top of his finger.

He later explained that the reason he passed out was because the cut went deep through a nail.

Simon told the YouTube star: "I don't want to alarm you but I've actually just managed to grate my thumb."

And he quipped: "If we have got the standby team for when I faint!"

Co-host Tim Lovejoy chipped in: "I think you might actually need to put a plaster on that."'

And Joe put his head in his hands and joked he was a 'bad omen.'
Simon continued with his food preparation and told viewers: "So what I'm going to do is use spoons for everything now."

"Mmmmm carrot and blood," tweeted one grossed-out viewer.

"Curry carrots and Rimmer's manky thumb flesh," said another.

Simon was partnered on the 2017 series of Strictly Come Dancing with dancer Karen Clifton.

The Chorlton -based chef owns Greens restaurant in Didsbury.
