Sunday Brunch's Simon Rimmer replaced by Miquita Oliver leaving fans confused
Sunday Brunch viewers were left confused on today’s episode after Simon Rimmer proved to be a no show.
The long-standing presenter was absent from his position in the daytime cooking show, with co-star Tim Lovejoy revealing he had been replaced by Miquita Oliver.
Opening up the show, Tim simply told viewers: “No Simon this week. He’s off.”
"He's probably got a hangover,” he joked. “Good morning Simon if you're watching. My co-presenter this week is Miquita Oliver. Welcome to the show, how are you?"
The former T4 presenter beamed as she told him it was “really lovely to be here”.
However, she quickly ran into trouble when she admitted that she “hadn’t done her homework” on the show or what it entails.
Tim responded: “That’s a good start!”
Miquita later quipped at her excitement at hearing the theme song because she ‘didn’t realise the show had one’.
Simon’s absence was not further explained, with the official Sunday Brunch Twitter account simply sharing a picture of Miquita and Tim together.
Under the pic, they wrote: "Our lovely hosts today! @miquitaoliver & @timlovejoy. @simonrim we all miss you #SundayBrunch."
They later added: “What a great show! Thanks to the lovely @miquitaoliver for helping us host today, we loved having you on.”
Fans seemed to feel the same, and after getting over the initial shock of the missing Simon, felt Miquita was a welcome addition to the series.
“I do love @simonrim but @miquitaoliver absolutely smashed it today (in spite of a proper clanger from a guest ). Would love to see her as a more regular fixture with both Tim and Simon! She’s such a talented presenter,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
A second said: “Oh no! No Simon .... Actually forget that, @miquitaoliver is absolutely fantastic, always has been!”
“It's been good with Miquita presenting.. Reminded me of T4 days,” added another.
Ahead of his absence, Simon was seen joining forces with chef Tom Kerridge for Pub In The Park over the weekend.
The star snapped a selfie at the event and having a blast while on stage in front of the audience in St Albans.
The touring event is occurring throughout September, with Kerridge and his travelling band of chefs cooking up a treat with food and music across a three-day bonanza.
The next stop is Marlow, Buckinghamshire, next weekend.
Ronan Keating, Craig David, and Heather Smalls are among the performers.
Sunday Brunch has been a staple of Sunday morning telly for the past 11 years, with Tim and Simon fronting the series since the beginning.
Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday at 9.30am on Channel 4.
