Sunday Brunch plunged into darkness as power cut interrupts the show

The Easter episode of Sunday Brunch had to go to an unexpected ad break after a power cut interrupted the show.

The Channel Four talk show, presented by Tim Lovejoy and Chorlton-based chef Simon Rimmer, was plunged into darkness during a cooking segment.

The power cut occurred as the presenters chatted in the kitchen with Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe, the stars of BBC sitcom Ghosts - and something spooky happened in the kitchen as the lights went out leaving the studio in darkness.

The show then went to an unexpected ad break while the problem was sorted, and thankfully when it returned all was back to normal.

"Well that was exciting! Our first ever Sunday Brunch power cut.." the show tweeted with a GIF of spooky Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family menacingly causing a power cut.

Rival channel ITV cheekily tweeted to the show: "Hey @SundayBrunchC4 we hear you're having a few problems this morning - anything we can do to help? 50p for the metre maybe?"

And Sunday Brunch replied with a crying-with-laughter emoji: "Are you behind this ITV??!"

Sunday Brunch is filmed at Television Centre at White City in London, which also accommodates ITV shows Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women.

One viewer asked: "Hello? Ha no lights, can you still cook?"

And another joked: "No-one's paid the leccy bill this month..."
