Sunbather dies on cliff above popular beach

Police have confirmed that a man has died while sunbathing.

The air ambulance landed on cliffs at Exmouth's Sandy Bay on Saturday afternoon.

It was attending reports of a medical incident near the South Beach Cafe, Devon Live report.

The helicopter was seen landing on cliffs above the busy beach at about 3pm.

It is understood paramedics performed CPR to try and save the man but he was pronounced dead.

South Western Ambulance Service have yet to confirm the details of the call out.

The cafe did confirm the helicopter landed close to their business and medics had treated a man.

On Sunday morning police confirmed the tragic news that the man had died.

A spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances.

He added: "He was sunbathing and just died. It is not suspicious at all.

"Next of kin have been informed."
