Sun shines down on Heaton Park as festival-goers arrive for day two of Parklife

The Parklife gates are back open and thousands of music fans are pouring into Heaton Park for the second day of the festival. Today's headline sets from Tyler, The Creator, Eric Prydz, Bicep will attract around 80,000 people.

Sunday's lineup also includes performances from Raye and Arlo Parks on The Parklife Stage, as well as Michael Bibi and CamelPhat over at The Hangar Stage. The Valley - so-called because it lies at the foot of a steep slope and is designed to look like a tower - will play host to Jayda G, Annie Mac and The Blessed Madonna.

It was confirmed earlier today that Caroline Polachek, who fronted indie pop band Chairlift and released her third solo album Pang to critical acclaim in 2019, has had to pull out of her scheduled performance. She has been due to perform on the main stage in-between appearances from Arlo and Lewis Capaldi later.

The singer tweeted this morning to apologise to fans. In the tweet, Polachek said: “Manchester ::: due to flight cancellations, i’ll sadly no longer be able to make it to @Parklifefest to perform today. i’ll see you Oct 29th at Albert Hall.”

Despite some brief showers yesterday, today's forecast is looking rather bright and sunny, which will presumably go down well with those returning for a second day. By lunchtime, the festival's 10 stages we're already filling up, as Sarah Story and Hammer warming up the crowds.
