Sun deputy editor Gordon Smart is to host a weekend show on Radio X.
Smart, editor of the Sun’s Scottish edition, is set to return to London as number three on the Sun.
The former Bizarre columnist is to host a Sunday show, called Smart on Sunday, described as delivering the “behind-the-scenes news from the world of music”, as well as artist interviews.
“I can’t wait to join Radio X and get on air playing the music that our loyal listeners love, with some big interviews to keep them entertained,” said Smart. “Radio X has a brilliant stable of presenting talent and I’m thrilled to be part of the family.”
Global Radio, the parent company of Radio X, announced Smart’s show as part of a shake-up of the weekend schedule of the music station formerly known as Xfm.
From Saturday, there will be a Best of The Chris Moyles Show, a round-up of the presenter’s weekday breakfast show, from 8am.
Johnny Vaughan will present a new sporting news-meets-music show, The Kickabout, on Saturdays from 11am.
“The Kickabout is going to give sports fan something they’ve been missing – a show that’s more than just scores and fixtures,” said Chris Baughen, managing editor of Radio X. “Radio X is home to some of the biggest personalities in broadcasting. It’s fantastic to have Gordon returning to radio with a brand new show. With one of the most impressive contact books and huge charisma, I know Gordon will be a big success with Radio X’s listeners.”
