Ozeki Goeido, an Osaka Prefecture native, suffered his first loss at the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament on Friday, falling to No. 2 maegashira Daieisho (3-3) on Day 6 in Osaka.

Goeido tried to pull down his opponent but lost his balance before being pushed out of the ring.

Yokozuna Hakuho, who trying to capture the Emperor's Cup for the first time in three tournaments, kept his slate clean after securing a two-handed grip on the belt of winless No. 3 maegashira Nishikigi (0-6) and forcing him out.

No. 4 maegashira Ichinojo earlier maintained a spotless record when he slapped down No. 1 maegashira Endo (1-5).

Sekiwake Takakeisho, bidding for promotion to ozeki, earned his fourth win as he sent No.1 maegashira Kaisei (0-6) out of the ring, while fellow sekiwake Tamawashi, the winner of the New Year tournament in January, evened his record at 3-3 as victories kept their slim promotion hopes alive.

Ozeki Tochinoshin, wrestling under kadoban status, secured his fourth win after using an overarm throw to defeat komusubi Mitakeumi (3-3).

Yokozuma Kakuryu capped the day by slapping down No. 3 maegashira Shodai (0-6) to improve to 5-1.
