Summer Twilight Markets to be held in North Somerset town

A series of ‘Twilight Markets’ are to be held in Clevedon this summer in a bid to boost footfall to the town centre.

The markets are the brainchild of Angus Sales and business partner Tom Dunn of the cider brewery Beard and Stable.

The pair launched their first Twilight Market in Cirencester in 2017 with the events growing in popularity over the years.

The markets will run on the second Saturday of the month throughout the summer from 5pm to 10pm in Queen’s Square.

Each market will have a selection of street food, chosen to showcase some of the great local food traders from around the Somerset and Bristol area.

The market will also feature craft stalls selling a range of locally produced and handmade goods.

The event will be fully licensed with a bar serving Hopped Ciders from Beard and Sabre as well as a number of local craft ales.

Live music from talented local artists will be playing at each market with seating provided to create a family orientated event for people to enjoy the summer evenings.

Markets already run in Clevedon, including at Queen’s Square, but are in the daytime and at weekends.

“Twilight Markets are something which are more seen on the continent,” said Angus.

“We launched one in Cirencester in 2017 and it has been incredibly well received.

“We then looked at Clevedon and thought it would be an ideal location to trial another one.

“The markets aim to have a real community feel where everyone can come along and enjoy it.

“Not only that but it will help bring people pack into the town centre at a time where High Streets are struggling as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.”

The markets will initially run as a trial and return next summer if successful.

The dates for this year’s Twilight Markets are July 10, August 14 and September 11.
