Nakhon Ratchasima and Kalasin have been hit hard by summer storms, which are forecast to unleash rains and strong winds in some parts of the country until Wednesday.
Khon Buri district chief Vijit Kitvirat said on Monday that 13 houses in Ban Don Krachai in this district of Nakhon Ratchasima were damaged after a storm and gusty winds hit the village on Sunday evening.
Authorities in Kalasin said at least 30 houses there were damaged by the storms, which unleashed heavy rain and gusty winds for more than an hour in Muang district.
Champa Saikrueng, a villager from Ban Don Krachai in Nakhon Ratchasima, said the roof of her house was ripped apart by the storms, forcing her and her family to quickly evacuate for fears of its collapse.
"It was the strongest storm I have ever seen in the village," she added.
The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department and Meteorological Department on Monday warned of storms in some northern, northeastern and central provinces until Wednesday. Nakhon Ratchasima and Kalasin were on their watch list.
Summer storms have damaged 15,25 houses in 17 provinces since April 5 and injured nine people, seven of them in Loei.
