Sumit Nagal drops out of top-100 in latest ATP rankings

NEW DELHI: India's top singles player, Sumit Nagal, has fallen out of the top-100 in the latest ATP rankings. Nagal lost 16 points from his previous ranking, causing him to drop three spots to 101.

In comparison, last year during the same week, Nagal had secured 41 ranking points by reaching the semifinals of the Chennai Challenger as a qualifier.

Unfortunately, he was unable to defend those points and only managed to earn 25 in Bengaluru last week. This setback has resulted in Nagal's drop in the rankings. However, Nagal remains determined to bounce back and regain his position in the top-100.

Nagal, after winning his fifth Challenger level title in Chennai, joined the elite club of Indian tennis players who have achieved a top-100 ranking.

On the other hand, Ramkumar Ramanathan climbed 42 spots to reach the 420th position in the singles category. Sasikumar Mukund followed it closely at 457th place, with a drop of 20 positions. SD Prajwal Dev held the 595th position, while Digvijay Pratap Singh dropped 11 places to be at 623rd position

Nagal is currently participating in the Pune Challenger tournament as he is set to face Niki Poonacha in the second round on Thursday.

In the doubles, Rohan Bopanna continued to be world number one player and was followed by Yuki Bhambri (60, +1), N Sriram Balaji (80, -1), Vijay Sundar Prashanth (81, +1), Saketh Myneni (89, +16) and Anirudh Chandrasekar (94, -4).
