Suitcase crammed full of cash found during cannabis raid

A suitcase crammed full of cash and a large stash of cannabis were found after police raided a property in Huyton.

Today Merseyside Police released images of the bundles of bank notes which they said added up to a "substantial amount of cash".

During the bust on Tuesday police also found a "large" a large amount of suspected cannabis resin.

Confirming the cash discovery a Merseyside Police spokesperson added: "A further search uncovered a suitcase containing a substantial amount of cash.

"The drugs and cash have been seized for forensic examination.

Police have made an arrest believing the bank notes could be connected to money laundering.

The spokesperson added: "We have arrested a 50 year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and money laundering."

Enquiries remain ongoing and the man is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives.
