Suge Knight could be big winner in Floyd Mayweather victory

May 03--Former rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight may end up being one of the big winners of Saturday's Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao fight.

Matthew Fletcher, Knight's attorney, said last week that if Mayweather wins the bout, he expects the boxer to cover his client's $10-million bail.

Mayweather did win, but there has been no word since the fight about Mayweather's plans. The boxer's camp has not responded to calls seeking comment about Knight.

Fletcher has said Mayweather and Knight are longtime friends.

A lawyer from Mayweather's camp reached out to Fletcher several weeks ago and asked about the specifics of bailing out Knight, the attorney said.

Fletcher said he talked to Knight on Wednesday about the possibility of Mayweather coming through with bail.

"Suge said, 'Man, I was really going to pull for him to win, but now I'm going to have to pray for him to win,'" Fletcher said.

Knight pleaded not guilty Thursday to murder and attempted murder for allegedly plowing his truck into two men at a Compton restaurant earlier this year.

Knight's bail remains at $10 million, even though his attorney requested it be reduced by half. A jury trial was set for July 7.

Some have expressed skepticism that Mayweather would actually cover Knight's bail.
