Sugarbabes have made an epic comeback as they drop first music in six years

Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy have regained the right to work as the Sugababes – and released their first music since 2013.

The trio, who made up the group’s original line-up, lost the right to record and perform under the name after line-up changes.

Flowers, a cover of the UK garage classic by Sweet Female Attitude, is their first track since Flatline.

It comes 19 years after their Brit Award-nominated debut Overload.

Buena, 34, confirmed the news on Instagram , saying: “Thank U for all the support guys we really appreciate the love.”

They performed the song, which appears on DJ Spoony’s Garage Classical, on BBC1’s The Graham Norton Show.

The group has featured a rotating line-up of female vocalists, with former members clashing over ownership of the brand.

Donaghy left in 2001 amid reports of infighting. She later said she had experienced clinical depression.

She also claimed she was forced out by Buchanan and branded her a "bully".
Former Atomic Kitten singer Heidi Range was announced as Donaghy's replacement.

In March 2005, Buena left following the birth of her daughter. She was replaced by Amelle Berrabah, which left Buchanan as the only original Sugababe.

But by 2009 she had also quit and was replaced by Jade Ewen.

Paloma Faith, Lily Allen, Emeli Sande and Gabrielle are also among the stars who have lent their vocals to the 12-track record.

Last year Donaghy, 35, teased fans about the prospect of new music from the trio.

She said to expect a new album within the next 12 months and hinted that the trio had regained the rights to the Sugababes name, which they lost after a number of line-up changes.
