Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga is arranging a meeting with Science Council of Japan President Takaaki Kajita for the purpose of gaining Kajita's understanding over his refusal to appoint six recommended candidates to be members of the council, several government sources said Thursday.
At the meeting, Suga is expected to address such matters as how he reached the decision to reject the six candidates, and explain to Kajita how the government will promote a review of the council from the viewpoint of administrative reform, in order to ensure that the council carries out its activities in a comprehensive manner.
