Suga tells LDP execs of intention to run for party presidency

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told senior officials of the Liberal Democratic Party that he intends to run for the party presidency, senior LDP members said Sunday.

Suga met with LDP Secretary General Toshihiro Nikai and others in Tokyo on Saturday.

According to the senior members, Suga said during the meeting: "I'm considering running in the presidential election. I want to ask for your support."
