Sue Cleaver's ITV Coronation Street return date confirmed as co-stars share real thoughts on her I'm A Celebrity stint

Coronation Street star Sue Clever is set to make an imminent return to the cobbles after her stint on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. The actress, who is famed for playing Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap, was among the 12 stars to take part in the 2022 series of the reality show which came to an end last weekend.

Sue, 59, swapped Weatherfeld life to run the gauntlet in the Australian bush, being dubbed the camp's mother alongside father-figure Mike Tindall, who fast became her jungle 'husband'. But the soap star, who has played Street Cars taxi cab controller Eileen since 2000, didn't hide her glee as she became the third contestant to be eliminated days before Jill Scott was crowned Queen of the Jungle.

"Camp life, I've adored it. I've loved waking up in the jungle but you can stuff your trials where the sun don't shine," she quipped to the show's hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly during her exit chat.

And her Corrie co-stars were among those cheering her on from back home. Following her exit from the jungle, Sue shared a video confirming she was back on her socials after her family took over while she was in camp. And her Corrie co-stars were quick to welcome her back. Ryan Thomas, who played her on-screen son Jason Grimshaw in the soap, replied: " Love you."

Gareth Pierce, who now portrays her on-screen son Todd Grimshaw, said: "Welcome back, Mama Grimshaw! Lots of love." Billy Mayhew star Daniel Brocklebank commented: " Can’t wait to have you back!!!" Sally Carman, who plays Abi Webster, posted: "You look terrific." While on-screen partner Tony Maudsley, who plays George Shuttleworth, simply added: " THERE she is!"

And now, some of the soap's stars have revealed exclusively to the Manchester Evening News that Sue will be back on set next week and it's fair to say they are excited for her to be coming back and will be quizzing her on the jungle gossip.

"I loved Sue in the jungle," Jodie Prenger, who joined the soap as Glenda Shuttleworth earlier this year, told us. "I waited with bated breath for every look that she gave because she wears her heart on her sleeve that woman.

"She did really well. Did I want her to be in the final? Yes. Did I feel she deserved to be in the final? Yes but I know she had a great time with her son and her fella. I can't wait to have her back." She then joked: "I'm going to have to top up on my tan because she looks fabulous and I want to take her for her dinner because she needs to eat."

Sue's fellow Corrie icon Sally Dynever also shared: "I thought Sue was brilliant in the jungle. Really, really good. She was like the motherer of the group. She did the cooking, she was really kind and I thought she did really well." The Sally Metcalfe actress added: "Just before Christmas I think I've got a scene with her and I can't wait to quiz her on it."

But after her jaunt in Australia, there won't be time for rest as Sean Tully actor Antony Cotton revealed: "Because Sue's back, we've got to film right up until Christmas all of the stuff we've missed but work is good, it keeps you out of trouble."

The cast were speaking during the unveiling of the Weatherfield Precinct which Corrie viewers will get to see for the first time next month after decades of the characters referencing the area. T he impressive two-storey construction features maisonettes, a staircase and balcony leading to the properties, a piazza and an array of accessible local shops including a dessert shop and charity shop.
