Sudden death of cyclist near Carmarthen is investigated by police

The sudden death of a cyclist on a Carmarthenshire road is being investigated by police.

Two cyclists were riding on an unclassified road between Idole and Croesyceiliog, around three miles south of Carmarthen, on Tuesday afternoon.

One of the cyclists - a male - died suddenly at the scene.

His name and age have not been released at this stage, but his next of kin have been made aware of the death.

Police are now investigating the incident.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following the death of a cyclist on an unclassified road between Croesyceiliog and Idole.

“Two cyclists were travelling towards Idole at around 1.35pm yesterday when sadly, one died suddenly.

“Anyone who saw the cyclists, or has any information, is asked to contact Carmarthenshire Roads Policing Unit by calling 101.”
