'Sudden death' in Scots street sparks police probe as scene locked down by officers

A police investigation has been launched after officers were called to reports of a sudden death in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to the scene in the Stirrat Street area of Maryhill at around 3.25pm on Friday, December 3.

Local residents reported seeing a large number of emergency service vehicles in the area where officers remain in attendance.

Police Scotland have confirmed that a probe has been launched but said that it is currently at an “early stage”.

It is not currently known whether the death is being treated as suspicious and the gender of the person involved has not yet been disclosed.

A force spokesperson said: “Around 3.25pm on Wednesday, 3 December, officers were called to a report of a sudden death in the Stirrat Street area of Glasgow.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are at an early stage.”
