Massive hailstones, torrential rain, as well as thunder and lightning battered Merseyside this afternoon in what has been described as “biblical” weather.
The sudden downpour and stormy weather hit certain parts of the region this afternoon.
The Met Office has warned people to expect an unsettled night with frequent showers into Wednesday morning.
The forecast reads: “Showers will continue through the evening and overnight, still falling heavy at times but becoming more scattered towards dawn. It will be breezy earlier in the night, with winds easing gradually as it goes on. Minimum temperature 6 °”

Earlier in the day people took to outdoor spaces as blue skies and relatively warm weather was forecast for the morning.
It wasn’t to last, however, as a massive downpour including bangs of thunder and flashes of lightning arrived at around 4pm this afternoon.
People took to social media to describe the “unpredictable” weather which caught many unaware.
One person said: “Not only have we had biblical rain here it is now hailing like the middle of winter. #whatkindofweatheristhis
Another said: “It's been sunny all day, now in the space of 10 minutes the clouds have hidden sun away, gave us rain & hail stones and now currently thunder with a little lightning. This weather has just been so Unpredictable!”
A third commented: “This is May right? Massive hail stones Torrential rain. Thunder & lightning Duvet time.”
Another said: "The thunder and lightning was absolutely amazing. Beautiful blue skies now though."
