Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani handed a written letter from Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Head of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on reinforcing bilateral ties.

The visiting Foreign Minister also held meetings with Deputy Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Mohamed Hamdan Daqlu, Sudan's Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, and Foreign Minister Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi.

Mahdi said the talks touched on peace in Darfur and the Juba Agreement, affirming Qatar's support for all these efforts, and its continued work with the Sudanese government to achieve all peace requirements.

The two sides also discussed regional issues, including the recent tension between Sudan and Ethiopia, as well as the situation in Libya and Chad.

Saying his visit to Sudan came as part of enhancing the fraternal ties between the two countries, the Foreign Minister noted that Qatar stands by the Palestinian people, and affirms that their problem will not be resolved without a just solution that guarantees their rights and the establishment of a state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to the return of refugees.
