Ambitions of the Sudanese people skyrocketed following the signing of the transitional phase document, holding aspirations that they would exit the economic despair caused by the former regime and move into an economy of affluence.
Economists said that signing the documents places the government to-be-formed in front of tough challenges relating to economic administration and planning, holding corrupts accountable, recovering looted funds and working on dropping Sudan from the list of states sponsors of terrorism.
According to the speech of the Forces of Freedom and Change, during the signing, there are objective hardships facing economic reforms – these challenges are represented in the gravity of the corruption and favoritism, abuse of public funds, administrative slouchiness, the excess spending on government divans and exploiting most revenues for the sake of suppression bodies.
Mohammed Naji al-Asam, a member of the Forces of Freedom and Change, said in his speech that these obstacles hinder economic revival and resolving people’s problems.
According to Asam, the revolutionary will and the new national spirit would provide economic sources and required human expertise to pass towards progress and development.
Professor of Economics Omdurman Islamic University Alfatih Othman determines that the transitional government priorities are represented in achieving peace and reforming the economic condition to accomplish economic and living affluence.
Othman told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that 80 percent of Sudan’s budget used to go to security bodies, and accomplishing peace means transferring these huge resources to the development budget.
Associate Professor of Saudi Universities Haitham Fathi reminded the transitional government of the importance of sparing citizens the economic relapse burden as it tackles economic challenges through creating solutions.
Fathi encouraged several options such as adopting shrinking policies that achieve stability in the overall economy or following expanding policies that push economic growth averages in a way that fulfills the needs of citizens.
