Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi pledged to prevent their dispute over the Halayib Triangle from turning into a source of tension between Khartoum and Cairo, vowing to seek a peaceful settlement.

Sisi concluded a two-day visit to Sudan on Friday during which he held in-depth discussions with Bashir.

Sudanese Foreign Minister Dardiri Mohamed Ahmed told the state-run al-Shorouk channel that Bashir and Sisi are determined to resolve all pending issues through cooperation.

He pointed out to their seriousness in implementing all pacts signed between Egypt and Sudan.

He pointed out to the presidential directives to remove all obstacles hindering the joint committees of the two countries from implementing all agreements.

During his meeting with political forces in Sudan, Sisi said that successive visits between the two countries confirm the keenness of the Egyptian and Sudanese leaders to push forward bilateral relations.

He stressed that Egypt's foreign policy is based on firm principles not to interfere in the internal affairs of others and not to conspire against any state.

It seeks to extend cooperation and development and to establish peace within a constant framework of mutual respect and common interests, which transcend differences.

The two sides expressed keen interest in upholding Red Sea region security, and continuous consultations and coordination to achieve mutual interests and prevent negative foreign interference.
