Three fire appliances raced to the scene shortly before 4am but nothing could be done for Mrs Millar, who lost her husband John in May 2014.

Social media was flooded with tributes from local residents.

One wrote: “Send our deepest condolences to her family at this very sad time . Rest in peace Bunty.”

Another said: “Thoughts are with her family and friends, so sad she was a lovely lady.”

While a third added: “Aww my wee old neighbour. Such a sad sad time . Rip bunty. Such a cruel world.”
