The Roys are back in business.
“Succession,” the messy family drama series about the heirs to a Manhattan-based media magnate, will return for its third season in October, HBO announced Monday without giving a specific date.
That’ll mark a two-year gap since the second season launched an unrivaled level of backstabbing and politically motivated alliances, with the COVID-19 pandemic delaying the show’s return on a normal schedule.
A trailer released last month promised a civil war between the Roy children (Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin and Alan Ruck) and patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) as the battle for Waystar RoyCo rages on.
Joining the cast this year is Adrien Brody, playing billionaire activist investor Josh Aaronson, Alexander Skarsgard as Lukas Matsson, a “successful, confrontational tech founder and CEO,” and Hope Davis as the daughter of Logan’s long-time rival, Sandy Furness.
“Succession” cleaned up at the 2020 Emmys, taking home awards including outstanding drama series, lead actor in a drama for Strong and guest actress in a drama for Cherry Jones.
