Succession season 3 writer reveals when HBO show will return

Succession fans have been wondering when the show will return following the dramatic season two finale that aired last month.

HBO is yet to announce any news on the forthcoming season, with viewers desperate to find out what happens next after Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) made a huge decision regarding his father Logan (Brian Cox) in the episode’s closing moments.

Now, co-writer Lucy Prebble has said the writing process for the third season is underway – and even shared when she thinks it’ll be released.

According to Prebble, the show is likely to “shoot in spring for a late summer air date”.

She told Deadline: “I work on it at night,” adding: “The writers’ room is very democratic. We look at, and re-write, each other’s work and the final scripts go to [creator] Jesse [Armstrong] who does a final pass. Like a lot of US TV, it’s very democratic.”

She acknowledged that it’s “early days in terms of story-lining,” but said: “One of the difficult things about the show is that you never want it to be too on the nose about what is happening now in the world. You want the emotional aspect of it to be true but not too parallel to what’s happening today.

“There are a lot of conversations about what the season two ending means for [the] particular relationship [between Logan and Kendall Roy].”

Prebble also said “there are a lot of talks about going more international than we’ve gone before” in the third season.

Succession is available to watch on NOW TV.
