Subway raid: Men 'flee with till after wielding knives at staff' at shop in Longbenton

A manhunt is under way after a Subway was robbed by two men wielding knives.

Staff were threatened by the robbers, who targeted the store at The Boulevard, in Longbenton, on Saturday.

They then fled with the till and the contents after demanding staff hand it over.

The raid happened at just after 5.50pm.

Staff inside the store were not injured but were left very shaken by the incident.

Officers were dispatched to the area but at this stage nobody has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing to trace those involved.

Now police have asked anyone who witnessed the men fleeing the area, or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident, to get in touch.

The Boulevard Shopping Centre was the scene of an alleged armed raid last year, at the Farm Foods store.

You can report information by calling 101 quoting log 862 29/06/19, reporting on the Northumbria Police website or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
