Subway Island of Ireland Youth Football Tournament to take place at Ulster University campus

A massive cross-border football tournament for young footballers will take place at the Ulster University Jordanstown next month.

League representatives from all over Ireland will take part in the third annual Subway Island of Ireland Youth Football Tournament on Saturday, June 1.

Teams from Galway, North and South Tipperary, Mayo, Dublin and District SL, Cavan and Monaghan will all travel to compete against South Belfast, Lisburn, Mid Ulster, Derry and District and NIBFA National Leagues in an event that has been a welcome addition to the football calendar.

The tournament will pit four teams from Northern Ireland against v four sides from Republic of Ireland in the opening fixtures at U13 (2006) age group.

The same format will be used at U15 (2004) age group, and thereafter will follow the draw schedule.

NIBFA Chairman Gerry Ward said: “We had a fantastic day of football at last year’s event held at Limerick University and the sportsmanship shown from all the participants.

"This has all been made possible with the support from Subway whose investment has been a fantastic boost for youth football and the social development of the players”

The games will start at 10am and the fixtures are as follows:

On completion of the first round of matches teams will then fall in to the following schedule for the rest of the tournament:
