Subway in Nottingham city centre 'the nicest in the country' after makeover

A Subway restaurant in Nottingham has been described as 'the nicest in the country' following a refurbishment.

The south side of the city is currently undergoing a multi-million pound regeneration, and this is not just limited to the new Broadmarsh library and car park.

Carrington Street, one of the city's oldest and most prominent shopping streets, is also being transformed to its former glory.

Buildings such as Gordon House, which sits opposite the Broadmarsh car park and houses Bhatia Best Solicitors, has been given a spectacular makeover in recent months.

The former Gresham Hotel's stained glass canopy has also been reinstalled following its repair.

Now, a Subway restaurant has become the latest building to get a fresh lick of paint, with its front now designed to replicate the 'vintage aesthetic' of the past.

Nottingham's Heritage Panel said: "Is this the nicest Subway in the country? We think so.

"Good job OI Interiors, Player Roberts Bell architects and Phillips Joinery with support from National Lottery players and Nottingham City Council."

While the Broadmarsh shopping centre still stands as a derelict and half-demolished eye-sore, work on the new Nottingham City Council funded Broadmarsh car park continues  and the regeneration of shops fronts in nearby Carrington Street.
